Please ensure this process is handled by a certified IT consultant to handle all aspects of the upgrade process, due to the nature of the process handling PHI and HIPAA guidelines only Certified IT consultants will be supported.
IT consultants please follow these guides to ensure proper upgrade occurs and all data is retained as required by HIPAA. Vatech Support will require IT to be invovled in order to support Server side installation or updating of the EzSeries Software due to data retention requirements in the event of an error occurs.
Failing to follow the update process or using incorrect versions may incure loss of data or incompatibility, please be sure to review all the guide before proceeding.
A.) Download Installation Files:
Select the EzSeries Package installer; as outlined by the most recent version under Section 1 for new installations/updating or previous versions based on your specific version requirements. You can also click the 'Download All' to start the entire download package vs selecting each individual file.
In order to ensure you are updating and installing the proper versions, use the following break down to determine the proper verison combinations to use.
New Version support list: Must update all software to matching versions as follows or newer* on Server Location (Where database is installed), Capture PC, and All Workstations.
Notice: Server 2022 *Must use EzServer 5.5.3 or newer; Server 2025* See EzServer Compatibilty Guide

Download: EzSeries EzDent-i Installation Files
- To download all; Choose the correct version as outlined in the most recent version.
- Click the Download Arrow as shown to download all core installation files. Example:

In order to ensure you are updating and installing the proper versions, use the following break down to determine the proper verison combinations to use. You can determine what version you are on by checking 'Add or remove programs/apps' and checking the version of EzServer.

Updating versions steps:
Previous versions before 2.3.4 they must update to 2.3.4.
Version 2.3.4 to version 3.0.8
Version 3.0.8 to 4.1
Version 4.1 to 5.1.1.
Version 5.1.1 to 5.3.3
Version 5.3.3 to 5.5.3
Previous Versions Download; (Please review previous version support - listed in below Section F. )
Note: Once Version 5.5.3 has been updated you can Update to the Latest Version 6.0 or higher
B. Backing up the database.
If* this is an existing installation / update or reinstallation - and there is a database in place: we advise that you first Backup the database by following the Backup Documentation Guide located here. then proceed to
Notice: It is required that a full and complete backup is made and confirmed before proceeding.
If* this is a new installation continue on with no backup.
C. Software Installation:
All can be ran as update over the top of existing version by Clinical IT. No additional support is normally required however - Vatech America can assist with updating EzServer and Capture PC; however Clinic IT will be required to ensure working backup is in place before updating and also assisting with updating Workstations.
EzServer:
Updating - existing sites EzServer following the update sequence listed in section A. for updating you will simply run the next version* over the existing version present to update. It is recommended to ensure that proper backups can run nightly in accordance data retention regulations, before and after the update*.
New EzServer Installation (No existing database), you will want to choose a location such as the Capture PC or Main office server (recommended) for the database and fileserver to be located at.
Installation of EzDent-i
To update EzDenti on the capture PC* and Workstations* Simply run the installer over the existing version. In some cases you might be prompted to uninstall first*, in that case uninstall the existing version from Add/Remove programs/applications and then run the update.
To install EzDenti on the Capture PC* and Workstations*:

Installing Ez3D-i
Note: Only install Ez3D-i if your device captures 3D Images; for 2D Pano/Ceph or Sensor only devices you do not need to install this software.
All specifications must be met in order for this software to operate properly. Please verify the PC specifications meets or exceeds as oulined
